My Story

One day I looked at a picture taken impromptu and could hardly recognize myself.

That picture wasn’t the woman I saw in the mirror while I brushed my teeth.  In the picture, she didn’t look healthy, vibrant and full of joy.  What the heck?  Had I been fooling myself into thinking I was healthy and within a “normal” weight range?

So for the last 4 years, I’ve been on a journey.  It started off as a journey to lose weight.  But quickly moved from losing the weight to adjusting my lifestyle from all aspects so that I am focused on BEing well from the inside out:  Life had surrounded me with reminders that we cannot take each day, week or year for granted.  The time to live fully is now.

I dove into a deeper exploration of my spirituality and how to live it out loud.

I started moving my body through multiple forms of exercise to keep it interesting and engaging – dancing, running, pilates, yoga, strength training, TRX, and paddleboarding.

I focused on being present for my husband and daughter.  Learning to listen and not jump in and assume I need to solve a problem.  To ensure our home is filled with conversation, compassion and empathy.

I completely changed the direction I wanted for my work and purpose and enrolled in Integrative Nutrition to become a certified health and wellness coach.

I re-ignited important friendships and found new ones that nurture my soul.

What I craved was inner radiance from having a health perspective across the whole of my life.  An inner radiance that would shine out into the world.

And each year I chose my word or value to focus on:

2016 = INTEGRITY; for me, WALK the TALK

2017 = SERVICE;  for me,  find more ways to volunteer in my local community

2018 = FOCUS; for me, pay attention to my priorities and avoid distractions (still a work in progress!)

2019 = MERCY; practicing self-compassion and kindness, stopping judgment of others and myself, forgiveness  – all of which take continual awareness and focus!

I didn’t choose these words.  They chose me.  Literally.  I randomly pulled them from a basket filled with values written on stars.  And for 3 years in a row, the value has perfectly fit the time and circumstances of my life.  No coincidence there.

Why Radiant Daily Wellbeing

Do we not each wish to wake up and feel light, carefree, and a glowing from within?  There are those that enter into a room and their light shines so brightly from within that they literally brighten up the room.  And we wonder, “What does she have that gives her that glow?”

I believe we all have that light, that glow that radiance within us.  For various reasons, some may dim the light, some may choose to wear a lampshade.   But we all have the capacity to be radiant.

sending out light; shining or glowing brightly.

What does it take to create a new habit, learn a new skill, and cultivate a new behavior?

DAILY practice!!

Wellness versus Wellbeing

Both are greater than the absence of disease.  Both require the integration of mind, body and spirit.  Both have both objective and subjective measures.

I chose WELLBEING because of the more holistic view of being the best version of ourselves.   In simple terms, well-being can be described as considering one’s life positively and feeling good

Our health journeys are not just about food or disease or ailments.  Our health journeys are about equipping us with habits and resources that allow us to live fully with vitality, fulfillment and joy.
